She also acknowledged the important role of volunteers. Among those volunteers in attendance was Robin Spaulding, a member of the VNA Care and VNA Hospice & Palliative Care boards, who played an instrumental role in efforts to open the Rose Monahan Hospice Home and has volunteered at the residence since it opened 20 years ago.

Senator Harriette Chandler and Representative Kate Campanale presented legislative citations from the Senate and House respectively, followed by a presentation of a key to the city by Worcester City Councilor Khrystian King.  Also in attendance was Representative Mary Keefe.

Following the presentation, the delegation had an opportunity to tour the residence and meet with a number of patients, family members and volunteers, including Fred Gay, 94, who has volunteered for VNA Hospice & Palliative Care for over 20 years.
